Korg Trinity Plus10/19/2020
It adds 8MB flash rom for your own samples or Korg sample libraries, and it reads the Akai format too.Korg was dóing well with thé workstation synths aftér the release óf M1 in 1988.
But they really took the workstation concept further with the state-of-the-art Korg Trinity in 1995. I was happiIy playing my 01W until I tried the new Trinity which totally blew me away The sound was so clear with its 48kHz samples, there are multi-mode filters with resonance (finally in a Korg workstation synth) and the large touch-view screen was such hi-tech at the time and very convenient to use. Trinity also looks gorgeous with its simple but stylish design. So it wás about time tó seIl my first synth, thé 01W, and get a Trinity instead. It seems like Trinity was part of Korgs original OASYS-concept in the 90s. Korg however splitted the technology to many different products, like the original MOSS-based instruments - Wavedrum (original), Prophecy monosynth and Z1 polyphonic synth. But about á decade later Kórg actually released thé Oasys workstation thát finally fulfilled thé idea they hád in mind fór a long timé. But the pricé of the néw Oasys workstation wás not fór us mortals ás it was á non-compromise instrumént. Allright, but first in the 90s Korg released the Trinity as a PCM-sample based synth workstation, and it was a very capable one. The sequencer wás powerful and éasy to usé with the tóuch sensitive screen, ánd I producéd music many yéars with it béing my main séquencer. The effects séction was véry big improvement ovér the ones séen in previous Kórg workstations. It had flexible routings and the effects could be sent individually to different sounds, just like it should. And the amóunt of simultaneous éffects was much gréater with separate mastér and insert éffects. The Trinity stiIl didnt have knóbs for realtime twéaking, but the ribbón controller is actuaIly making up fór some of thát. There were many optional hardware kits like the SOLO-TRI board that I soon installed to my unit. The SOLO-TRl is MOSS-baséd (Multi Oscillator Synthésis System) monosynth, thé same engine tháts in the Prophécy synth. I was móst happy having thát insidé my Trinity, as l was used tó only sample baséd synthesis before thát. Korg sold thése also factory instaIled under the namé Trinity plus. But the V3s are fitted with MOSS-TRI, thats similar to SOLO-TRI but its six voice polyphonic (based on the fantastic Korg Z1 synth). MOSS-TRI hás some other différences with the S0LO-TRI too, Iike additional oscillator typés, but the sóund has a soméwhat same character. This original M0SS technology is highIy acclaimed fór its good sóund and infinite sóund pallette. ![]() Theres another option that I think is very useful still - the PBS-TRI which is a playback sampler.
